This collection of short stories is about a boy and his friends. It is a collection of memoirs, adventures and collected anecdotes that a reader may find interesting, perhaps even sometimes amusing as well as entertaining. It is a collection of true accounts of a selection from events in a life and of people who one has met or worked with during a long, interesting and sometimes chaotic life. As a reader you will meet real people and true events but from which names have been changed here and there for the sake of confidentiality. These true stories tell about the life of me, my family and friends and of a period in England, London in particular that is little known to most of you and which is rich in modern historical interest both in humour and tragedy as well as people behaving both well and badly, sometimes downright unkindly. All of the stories are perfectly true BAR ONE and it will be for the reader to select which one he/she feels is the 'outsider'. No Prizes other than the satisfaction of communicating your choice with the author.

He stared back at his mother's glare; he knew he would be in trouble over this. "You been in that bloody brook again boy?" "No Mum." Was all he could think to say, and then he followed her glare down to his feet. The tell-take puddles of water seeping from his shoes onto the shiny lino of the kitchen gave the lie to his answer; tiny lakes on the shiny, oh so shiny heavily polished lino of the kitchen. He tried offering that cheeky grin, the one he knew might steal her heart yet again but no! Punishment seemed imminent; damned water! Sussed and 'hoist once more and by your own Petard'!
