Interesting and Imaginative

This novel is a fun and imaginative journey into the past. The protagonist, Poma, allows us to see what the past may have looked like from a feminist prospective, which is something that is missing from most history textbooks. While some passages were awkwardly constructed, the overall book is an easy and enjoyable read. Unfortunately, the first reviewer is trying too hard to make this an archaeological textbook rather than an enjoyable and imaginative adventure. As a lifelong fiber artist who is soon to have her master's degree in archaeology, I was not concerned with the accuracy of this novel as I read, but was more interested in finding something that could relieve my extreme stress as I worked on my thesis. This book did just that. Sure, it may not be 100% accurate. Unfortunately, we have no idea exactly what happened in the past. If the author had wanted to construct a novel that could be considered historically and archaeologically accurate, we would have a text book, not a novel. I am glad she did not attempt this. I've read enough textbooks and welcomed this enjoyable read that combines two of my favorite subjects (fiber arts and history).

Fascinating Read

An incredible journey with time traveler Poma as she travels through skillfully woven history and cultures along the silk road in search of the Royal Purple. The loves and lives of Poma are engrossing in themselves and the visual scenes of another time and place add to the pleasure.
