The second edition retains its focus on the wide diversity of child heath care needs that are the responsibility of a wide spectrum of health care personnel. The book includes general principles determinants, monitoring, measurement and provsion of promotive and preventive health care, and community-based management. Although a companion volume to existing clinical texts, selected clinical sections are included as these are important in the southern African context, or special concern to the primary care provider. For the new edition, all chapters have been revised and updated, and the section on the newborn has been enlarged. A new chapter has been added on the role of applied disciplines.
