Constructivist but not overly so.

This book really agrees with the way I like to teach chemistry. It's quantitative but not overly so. The balance of rigor with playful inquiry is perfect for tenth or eleventh grade chemistry class. I strongly feel that high school science should be exploratory in nature, carefully sustaining whatever spark of wonder a kid has retained into adolesence and then parlaying that into an aptitude and appetite for the science they will encounter when they get to the university level.
