Worth the Study

Experience has shown me that there is a lot of uncanny accuracy in what this book teaches - if you study it and can apply it. Much more so than current books on the subject. It is very readable and also provides quite a bit of insight into Victorian and Edwardian spiritualism. The real silver lining is that with a good working knowledge comes surprising opportunities for meeting otherwise unapproachable women at parties. Remain vigilant, however, for spontaneous negative reactions by suspicious and possessive individuals.

Good buy but the images are very poor

Obviously the book is good a must have for all who are interested in palmistry. But the images of the hands are not clear. Also, the printing quality is that of a xeroxed book. Hope in subsequent editions these will be better. Nevertheless, its a good buy.

good book, difficult to read.

Excellent compendium and curiosities about palmistry, the book is written in old English from the late 1800s, sometimes it's a little hard to follow the line or to understand because it comes with the original orthographic mistakes made by the author in the first edition of the book back in 1895, and the words/letters are tiny. It is a little piece of history! If you are into palmistry you should buy it, if you are not don't bother, you'll find it difficult to read.

A Very Good Book with Some Faults

This is a very good book. You need to spend time on it to appreciate its value----accuracy!! Follow closely what the author says, attempt to read the lines on your palm and judge for yourself... At least in my case, they are amazing accurate. One concern about this book are the 31 plates of Famous Hands at the end of the book. You can hardly see them clearly (too much dark parts with the lines), the last printed page is a picture of Cheiro's Indian Room (an absolute black-or-white "photograph", not a normal black-and-white photo in shades of grey). Fortunately, the author makes little reference to the 31 plates, the only mention is on page 147 (refers to Plate XXV) and page 150 (Plate XXIV). With a brief description of the appearance, for example, on page 147, "The excessively drooping of the line of head (Plate XXV) on a pointed or conic hand ...", is useful when the reader reads parts of page 147 and 150.IMPORTANT NOTE:Certain parts of the main texts are also not very clear (but still can make out the words)---looks like xeroxed copy of a xeroxed copy, for example pages 16 and 17. If you can get hold of this copy, look at these two pages and decided whether you still want to buy this book. Not all people will find the printing acceptable.

Excellent book

This book is a more elaborate work, (compared to the smaller book on Palmistry by the same author). This book has numerous illustrations which are very helpful for deciphering the lines of the hand. I tried reading my hand (after reading the book) and I've been impressed by the accuracy of predictions based on the material given in the book. In short this is an excellent buy if you wish to master the art of palmistry.
