This book is NOT a book that describes the day to day walk in the woods. I have read a few books that went something like this: I got up and ate breakfast, then walked and saw some cool stuff, then ate and walked, ate and slept...repeat. This book does talk about some cool thing that I experienced but also it is a fun, informative, and sometimes scary look at my adventure in thru hiking the Appalachian Trail. If you just want to understand the mindset of thru hiking or to live vicariously through the adventure, this book is for you. If you are planning a section hike or even a thru hike, it does have valuable information that will allow you to learn from my mistakes and not make them. At any rate, I trust that you will enjoy the journey as much as I have.
