High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Charles de Valois (28 April 1573 - 24 September 1650) was the Duke of Angoul me and the illegitimate son of Charles IX of France and Marie Touchet; born at the Ch teau de Fayet in Dauphin . His father, dying in the following year, commended him to the care and favour of his younger brother and successor, Henry III, who faithfully fulfilled the charge. His mother married Fran ois de Balzac, marquis d'Entragues, and one of her daughters, Henriette, marquise de Verneuil, afterwards became the mistress of Henry IV.
