The use of electromagnetic waves is rapidly increasing in wireless communications and biomedical engineering, highlighting the need to study their interactions with human tissues. Previous studies, however, have not reached a consensus on how different electromagnetic frequencies affect biological tissue layers at both the cellular and thermal levels. This study aims to analyze near-field electromagnetic absorption in layered biological tissues, with a focus on the thyroid gland, which is highly exposed due to its anterior location in the neck. A one-dimensional multilayer tissue model representing the thyroid region was developed, incorporating accurate dielectric properties, including permittivity, conductivity, and density, based on data from the Italian National Research Council.
