Characteristics of a Great Christ-Centered Marriage

This was a Custom Word Study (CWS) put together for a couple who wanted to lead a home/life group for a large church on the topic of marriage. The questions were taken from Interactive Bible Learning (IBL) and customized for marriage ministry. The Bible verses collectively illustrate that a godly marriage must be Christ-centered. They describe marriage as a divine institution meant to reflect God's love and covenant, with Christ's sacrificial love for the Church serving as its ultimate model. The scriptures underscore the unity of two becoming one in spirit, the importance of mutual honor and understanding, and the role of marriage as a testimony to glorify God. Placing Christ at the center transforms marriage into a ministry that bears fruit in companionship, procreation, and spiritual growth. It highlights building the foundation of marriage on Christ and His Word, prioritizing love, patience, and humility over cultural norms. The verses also offer practical steps for nurturing a Christ-centered relationship, such as maintaining peace, mutual respect, and reliance on God's guidance.
