Life without telephones, cell phones, computers, television and air conditioning: was it really possible? The author tells you about growing up in a rural community in central Alabama in the 1940s and 1950s. He relates some of the activities, the people, and their eccentricities and peculiarities. He begins with the moving in to a little 2-room house on the banks of a creek called Channahatchee with his mother and step-father, brother and step-brother. He closes it out with his family's moving to the west coast of Florida in the mid-fifties. And after going almost around the world, many years later he returns to his much changed community.
