Excellent Biblical Explanation of Angels and their function on Earth!

First of all, let me say that this is an extremely inspirational book that leads objective readers into a deeper and fundamental understanding of Angels; who they are, where they are and what they do. My second point is to the critic's review below me who obviously did not care for the book. (If the review is no longer there, read no further!) His review is dripping with sarcasm, which as a Psychologist reveals lots of anger in one who uses this method to convince people of their point of view. He in essence, belittles something in order to sway people's opinions . . . hoping to excite and tap into anothers similar feelings. One cannot trust a reviewer such as this to be honest nor objective as they are obviously biased. Having said that; his critique claims he has read many books that were contrary to Biblical accounts of angels so how can the author state that only the Biblical view is correct! This literature and his personal experiences have led him closer to God. What is lacking here is truth. The story of the boy who cried wolf teaches a moral lesson for all of us to head; don't say it is an emergency if it is NOT one! Is the story true? Absolutely NOT! However the lesson it teaches is a true principle of life. The story leads us closer to proper and appropriate behavior but the story, in and of itself, is not true. This is a very basic example of how a story can be false, but the principle taught be true. And their are many fictional books that inspire and teach us to become better individuals as well as learn about God's love. Another more contemporary issue tailored to adults is "The Five People You Meet In Heaven." The author states this is a fabrication of what he thinks heaven is like. He explains. . . this is NOT truth. Once again, this book has touched millions of lives by helping us realize that every action in our life has consequences and that many of the events today are a result of the past. We are all intertwined and connected despite our obvious lack of experience to this fact. Finally, this critic points out that "fear" of God is unhealthy. Once again he misses truth. Fear in and of itself is not good or bad. . . it's an emotion. It is what we DO with that fear that determines a positive or negative outcome of that fear. An example of healthy fear is how one teaches a child NOT to walk into a street without first looking both ways and checking for traffic. THAT is a very healthy fear to have! I certainly am afraid of crossing a highway with 2 ton trucks barreling down the lanes at 70+ miles an hour! The fear the author uses to describe our fear of God is this type of fear. Similar to how we feared the discipline of our parents, or the authority of our boss. Truly we do not shake in our pants when we have a positive relationship with authority, but we do "fear" doing wrong and being chastised and disciplined. I hope your children have this "fear." It's healthy and normal. We all know quite c

An Experiential and Scriptural Examination of Angels

Like other books in this genre, the author compares the experiences of people who say they have encountered angels with what the Bible says on the subject. The discussion isn't limited to comtemporary thought. He goes on to draw on the work of scholars from previous generations. Jones examines the matter with discernment, culling stories and teachings that contradict Christian teaching as revealed in the Bible. Even for situations that took place that are unexplainable, he maintains that some things are mysterious, i.e., that maybe it was a human or an angel taking the form of a human that intervened, that perhaps we don't know for sure. Throughout the book he emphasizes two points. First, angels are messengers that focus our attention on God. This is a recurring theme in angelic visits found in the Bible. Second, anything that appears to be a revelation that goes against Scripture is to be avoided. An angel of God will not contradict the Word of God.
