An excellent resource.

All of the major holidays are presented thoroughly and organized in a manner that allows the reader to reference material intuitively. I have other "Celebrate" books, but this one surpasses them all.

Outstanding, comprehensive guide to the Jewish holidays!

This book is a superior reference for practicing Jews, as well as for those who wish to learn about Judaism. Each Jewish holiday is described comprehensively, from the perspectives of religious, spiritual and historical significance; key ceremonies and prayers; home and synagogue observance; traditional celebratory foods and music from around the world; and ways to make the holiday significant for children. A multi-year calendar of holiday dates is provided. The book is a splendid how-to guide. Prayers are rendered in Hebrew, in English transliteration of the Hebrew, and in English, so that all readers can understand them. The book provides a lively and easily-used guide to practicing the many rich traditions of Judaism in a meaningful and enjoyable way. The book will also help readers to mold their holiday celebrations by selecting those traditions that hold the most meaning for their own families and circumstances. I have used the guide for several years. It has enriched my life and introduced me to meaningful customs with which I was unfamiliar. I have explored a number of guides to Jewish practice, and believe that this is the best guide of its type that I have seen.
