Local Political Thriller

Politics and the Press, it doesn't get any down and dirtier than in the world of local politics, and there are few places where the mud really slings than in Key West. Mac McKinney is an old school journalist that still clings to his independence and is more concerned with writing the truth than with going along with the local media flow. The Key West City commission is made up of Conchs, Bubbas, and a drag queen. "Journalism is a blood sport" when Mac, the City Commission, and U.S./Cuban relations collide during the debauchery that is the Key West FantasyFest. While most political thrillers focus on international politics and espionage, Michael Richie brilliantly brings the drama much closer to home. The true-to-life and often humorous portrayal of small town politics is an incredibly fun read. Even if you are not a political junkie like me, you're sure to love Richie's very down to earth characters and twisting plot.

This is a book I could not put down - always hungry for the next chapter. Just when you think one thing's happening, there's a twist. So much holding your breath. Such fun! Very insightful about Key West. There's definately more than meets the eye in this ficticious tale! Subtle yet very much life in The Keys. The laughter lifts your spirits. It keeps you on edge enough to pump some adrenaline. Leaves you feeling good after the reading. Looking forward to another Ritchie novel!
