Cayenne, the feisty, red-haired owner of Loopy Dog Saloon, has a reputation of rescuing eclectic, discarded people and providing shelter while training them to be responsible members in the community of 1885 Silverbend, Colorado.

An insane asylum escapee, Inka May Donovan, spawned a clutch of murderous sons who are also adept at stealing land and rustling coveted Appaloosas.

Ida Becker, from a homesteading German family, was forced into marriage with Fats Donovan, the greasy owner of Big Moon Way Station. She feared for her life and sought refuge at Loopy Dog.

In desperation, Cayenne placed an ad in the Silverbend Gazette pleading for the mysterious Diablo Kid to come provide protection and enforce vigilante justice as needed for the safety of her newly founded family of misfits.

Who is the Diablo Kid? Even he doesn't know. The plot thickens with each new discovery. In the meantime, he enjoys the warmth he finds with Cayenne and his newfound family in the Loopy Dog Saloon.
