I really liked CATHY'S KEY, much more so than CATHY'S BOOK. It takes place six months after Cathy found out that her boyfriend is immortal. He is gone from her life, she has graduated from high school, and she is trying to find a job. She keeps being fired from her places of employment, which is a running gag in the story. She is now on a bus heading home from St. Louis. She has just seen a psychic immortal who told her to be wary of Tsao and a bombshell about her dead father. She told her that her father had probably been murdered. On the bus, Cathy meets a girl named Jewel. Jewel, through a series of adventures, manages to steal Cathy's identity. When Cathy gets home, she spends the rest of the story discovering facts about her father and her boyfriend, Victor. She actually grows up and learns that what is on the surface is probably not all that is happening, and you need to dig deep down to discover what is true. I enjoyed this book and love to read a journal where the author is an artist. It helps clarify the story and is fun to read. But I didn't need the "extras" that CATHY'S KEY contains. I looked at them but really didn't need them. I do recommend the reading of this book, though! It is a fun summer story. Reviewed by: Marta Morrison

Another Interesting Episode On "The Cathy Show"

It's been six months since Cathy found out her boyfriend Victor is immortal. Victor has disappeared, and Cathy has graduated high school while trying to avoid losing her job. But the mysteries are far from over. As Cathy searches for answers, she's discovering even more secrets. Secrets that will lead her to the truth behind her father's death. And someone might want to kill her for knowing the truth. The main marketing promotion for this book is that, like the first, it has lot of "evidence" that complements the story. These include photos, drawings, transcripts, coins, clues, as well as websites and phone numbers that readers can call to interact with the story. While the evidence is interesting, focusing on that aspect of the book makes one lose the significance of the story. Cathy's Key is a fast-paced, slightly supernatural mystery in its own right. Of course, although the main plot is resolved, many questions are still unanswered. The book as a whole feels like more of a small part of a much larger mystery. Readers will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series in the hope of resolving many of those questions. Reviewed by Alyssa Feller

From J. Kaye's Book Blog

This is the second book in the Cathy's series. Cathy is in St. Louis, Missouri. It's been six months since she'd discovered her boyfriend was immortal. She searches for answers to her father's death and finds a website on the internet. This an immortal fortune teller whom claims she can help Cathy find out if her father really died of heart attacked. The fortune teller's name is Auntie Joe. When Cathy met her Auntie Joe said that her father did not die of a heart attack. He was murdered. Then Auntie Joe said that if Tsao (her boyfriend, Victor's father and an immortal) could not marry her, he will kill her. After Auntie Joe told her about some things Cathy wanted to know, Cathy took a Greyhound Bus to San Francisco, her home. But, little did she know that it was the beginning of another crazy adventure through the immortal world. Both this and the other book are written like a journal. There's artwork all through it. This series is a lot of fun and I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Awesome
