Long Overdue

This book was long overdue and needed by people of all ages. As a senior citizen reader I find that Fr. McNeely has clarified in a few pages many areas that led to "hang ups" in our faith. He is a born educator. His love of the Catholic faith, and strong devotion and real dedication to his vocation as a Catholic priest is found throughout his book. I highly recommend this book, and I thank Fr. McNeely for sharing it with us.

There's no reason to be in the dark.

This book proves to be a refreshing insight into our faith, removing the stigma that has been attached to Catholicism for many years. Father McNeely provides answers to the questions we have had but were afraid to ask. Written in layman's terms, it is easy to understand and enjoyable as he interjects levity along with explaining doctrine. A great read for not only practicing Catholics but for those who have given up on our faith.

Catholicism without the Guilt

I wish I would have had this book all the years I attended Catholic schools. Many times I didn't agree with some of the things that were being said in religion class but tried to convince myself that it must be true--even though it didn't make sense. Now I find out from this book that I can follow what my own conscience tells me is right. What a relief!!! This is an easy, enjoyable book to read and I've learned more from this book than in my 15 years in Catholic schools.

Modern Approach to Ancient Theologies

Father "Mac" as he was lovingly referred as when he was Pastor at Holy Family Church in Honolulu, Hawaii is the breath of fresh air in a religion that is often wrought with outdated obligations and closed doors to those who don't fit a mold that the church has constructed. Father Mac is a disciple of all that is good in Jesus and his sermons are always full of hope and love; he sees the world of Catholicism as the glass half full, never half empty. He teaches that the obligations and restrictions Catholics face every day were made up by MAN with a purpose to maintain good order and discipline, but if they can't be met, it is OK, Jesus is Love, He does not punish. Father Macs parish is open to everyone, even those that the church may see as unworthy; gay, unwed mother, divorced, are all welcome. The church is Jesus' heart and that love is spread to everyone, everywhere. If you want to keep your Catholic Faith, but feel good about yourself and your life, read this book and experience the true joy that the Catholic Faith really is - the Love of our Savior Jesus Christ. Noone knows this better than Father Mac - we truly miss him at Holy Family. John J. Szemkow, U.S. Navy (Ret.), Faithful Parishoner Holy Family Church, Honolulu, Hawaii
