Unsure about her role in life, a young girl living in Camden, New Jersey, during World War I discovers a vocation in nursing. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I really loved this book when I first read it in junior high school. It is sometimes hard to imagine girls having the same problems that I had making choices, even though the girl in this story was born at the turn of the century. The heroine of this story had to deal with deciding on what career to pursue and which man she wants to spend the rest of her life with, all the while coping with pressure from and impending war (world war I) and the predjudice upper class society has against nurses. I still find this an intriguing book and highly recommend it for teenagers who were as undecided as I was.
