Caitlin Shelby was the last passenger to get on board the Catalina Express, a one-hour boat service to Avalon, Catalina Island. Having recently graduated as a Registered Nurse, she is employed at a hospital in Long Beach, but she is not happy with her job. She is also mending her broken heart since her relationship with boyfriend and co-worker, Dr. Caffrey Quinn, ended suddenly.

This two-week trip to Avalon is a gift from her parents, complete with a cottage and a two-day hike through the Interior. During this time, she hopes to resolve her dissatisfaction regarding her career and her personal life.
