Most tom-cats don't have ethics, not good ones anyway. Piwacket was different. He is an intergalactic investment adviser for Kor Group, Raen Star System. He helps old lady Goren, a retired widow, invest her social security checks. Robert Crane, Mrs. G's former neighbor, knitting buddy and mail-thieving co-conspirator, doesn't know the fat, orange tabby's real identity. But, Robert, the usually inebriated and very confused, finds out several years later that the deceased Goren has left him as the trustee of the huge estate that Pi had helped her amass. Then the real fun begins as Crane comes to the realization that lots of money brings out the worst in some people, Pumpkin Pi has more depth than he imagined, and booze doesn't fix much. He discovers that love and purpose give life real meaning. Robert's coming of age story wends him through his addictive tendencies and Costa Rica. With the aids of lessons learned from his out of this world friend, neighbors in his Iroquois Longhouse apartment building and Monstro-crab lawyers who try to eat him, he saves himself, and for good measure, the world.
