Fantastic collection of fairy tales

This is or family's favorite story book. I read it over and over as a child, and now even my teenagers say it is the most awesome book. "Don't ever sell it!" they say. The stories are unforgettable. They are not sugar-coated, gripping one's emotions, but are satisfying in the end.

Delightful Fairy Tales Not Seen Elsewhere

I was at the perfect age to enjoy this book shortly after its publication, and I loved it! Very few of its stories resemble those assembled by the Brothers Grimm, and the ones that do have extra twists to the plot ("Ashputtl"). Some of the tales are relatively modern ("The Swans of Ballycastle"), others are exotic ("Tiger Woman"), and others are whimsical ("The Lost Half-Hour"). It's perfect for youngsters (and those still young at heart) who enjoy being absorbed by stories that are a little unusual.
