When he learns that his mother has died on the family farm in Florida, Kelly Husen is confronted with conflicting emotions. Having been estranged from her for years he must reconcile his past feelings with the knowledge that he is the last surviving member of the Castleman family and that the farm is all that remains of their legacy. It is a tainted legacy, however, for Kelly's uncle was executed years earlier for a series of grisly murders that cast the Castleman name into disrepute. Through his murderous deeds, Grady Castleman - penned the Eyeball Killer by the tabloids - has left the family property in Cay Grove under a heavy cloud. Shunned by the town's residents, it is popularly believed that the Castleman farm bears a curse, one that will haunt Kelly and his girlfriend, Lenore, as they attempt to reclaim a long-neglected homestead with the hopes of selling it and forever cleansing the stain left behind by Grady Castleman. It isn't long before Kelly and Lenore begin to feel the impact of the supposed curse on the property. They are plagued by inexplicable noises in the house, as well as a steady stream of trespassers who are drawn to the farm because of their distorted admiration for the executed Grady. Soon after, the body of a young woman is found on the farm, and a series of unexplained murders has the people of Cay Grove fearing that Castleman's curse is once again potent, the blame for which they place directly onto Kelly. The more he probes the past activities of his family the more he discovers about their ties to a couple of local witches and rumors of ritualistic sacrifice conducted on the farm. This is supported by a series of rune stones found on the property that bear strange Teutonic symbols associated with mysticism and things even more unsettling that cast an entirely new light onto his family going back generations. Kelly struggles to solve the mystery of Castleman's curse before the forces behind it take control of him and Lenore and add them to the growing count of victims of the Castleman family's association with things better left in history's darkest dungeons.
