A thoughtful mystery where a young girl shows initiative and courage
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
Tracy and Doug are teenage twins with a serious problem; their mother has been arrested for stealing from the jewelry store where she works. Their father died two years before and since then money has been very tight. The police are convinced that their mother is guilty, so the investigation has been ended. Therefore, it is up to Tracy and Doug to find the real criminals. Their investigation leads in many different directions and is made more difficult by the anger expressed by the owner of the store. The situation is worsened when Doug falls down and breaks his leg. However, Tracy demonstrates a great deal of courage as she continues on her own and finds the place where the real criminal has stashed the loot. In a final confrontation, the criminals are captured and the case is closed. There is less action in this book than in the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew series. Tracy and Doug both know Braille and Tracy used it to make notes in her notebook and to communicate with Doug. This is a thoughtful mystery where the primary character is a young girl demonstrating great courage and initiative.
