Sylvia S nchez Garza grew up in Weslaco, Texas, and now lives in Edinburg with her family. She enjoys the Rio Grande Valley's culturally rich and beautiful border community. As a former teacher and current school board member, she values education. Garza holds a BA in English, an MA in Education, an MFA in Creative Writing, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies. Her short story, "Ojo" was published in Living Beyond Borders in 2021. She has also published poetry in various literary magazines and two anthologies. Her poetry book, Awaken, was first published in 2022.
