The guidance you need to make your faces leap from the wood Caricatures demand the same skill and sense of proportion that realistic figures do, and that's particularly true of carving heads, which can easily become grotesque looking if certain rules aren't followed. With his years of carving, expert carver Pete LeClair has developed a sure-fire method for carving outstanding caricature heads. Now he shares it, teaching you the key rules and taking you step by step through the process of carving 33 projects. Every step is illustrated with a color photo and precise caption. A gallery shows the variety that this carving approach can achieve.
This is possibly the best instructional book I have ever puchased. It provides clear and logical step-by-step instruction and is illustrated fully with high quality photographic examples of each step. I am a novice carver, but the very first project I did following the instruction in this book was many times better than anything I had ever carved before. I highly reccomend this book for anyone who is having difficulty carving facial features, or for the novice woodcarver.

I had very little wood carving experience when I picked up this book, so I was a little worried that I would not be able to follow the directions well enough. I started with the rough cut out as described in the book and followed each step trying to understand as I went. Long story short, my results were the best carving I have done so far. Pete has a knack for carving caricatures that is simply fantastic. He has given me the confidence to pursue my new wood carving hobby. I look forward to more books from Pete.
Great Caricatures and excellent instruction.

I am a clay artist and I used this book to teach me how to carve caricatures in clay. I loved the outcome and learned a great deal from Pete Leclair. I had borrowed the book from the library and liked it well enough to order my own copy.
