Algy Temple is Miss Marple's nephew

The author has created a superlative relaxing read. Mr. Temple, legal counsel to Carter College, an Ivy League school situated on College Hill in Providence is witty, charming, caring and very real to life. Like McNally, Temple has fine taste in not only what he wears but what he eats and where he lives. This book is an easy read. Perfect for that week at the beach or the briefcase to read on the commute to/from the office. His descripton of the Providence community is right on target. From the ride to Federal Hill to College Hill to the dry cleaner in Wayland Square and back to Thayer Street or Providence Place. Don't wait. Get this book ASAP.

Exciting new sleuth!

Mr. Partridge has sunk the eight ball with this one! Algy Temple is a thinking man's Mike Hammer, and 'Carter' University a spot-on send-up of Brown. I particularly liked Nadie; feisty and liberal - a perfect foil for our detective. Good chemistry between them, and the plot unfolds in a well-paced, dramatic way. Loved the surprise end! Let's hear more from this talented mystery writer!

Dan Brown Review Of "Carom Shot"

Having been a resident of Providence some years ago ,the author's locale descriptions certainly brought me back to to the City. An exceptional depiction of some of the colorful political and judicial characters there , some of which whose antics have earned national attention. "Carter University "is an exceptional setting for this grabbing mystery. Sufficiently reserved romantic liaisons to allow the reader's romantic experiences to make of it what he will. "Carom Shot" is sufficiently open-ended to lead the reader to expect future "Algy Temple Myseries." It is beautifully written and well worth reading by the mystery lover as well as those who enjoy reading about exciting places. . .such a place is Providence.

Great first work!!!!!

Having formerly resided in RI, I throughly enjoyed the descriptions of the Brown, whoops, Carter University campus and the City of Providence and RI areas in general. The manner in which the author interspersed real locations and places with his fictional university locale were very entertaining. His descriptions of the characters, the area, local politics and interactions were insightful and vivid and as such, put the reader into the middle of the mystery plot. I am an avid reader of mystery novels, including Patterson, Coban, Connelly, etc. and would recommend this mystery to all who enjoy serial characters and plot twists that go unsolved until the final pages. I look forward to future works in this series and further development of the characters that were introduced in a fine initial effort.

Carom Shot

Excellent read, a page-turner. It keeps one in suspense until the end. Descriptions of places, people, clothing, buildings, rooms and action are so detailed that you feel you are there. You also receive an up-to-date sociological and political backdrop of the city of Providence that is clear and necessary to understand the tensions and interactions among the characters. If you like a taut murder mystery in a real city with all the concomitant interrelational problems among various power brokers, then you found it in Carom Shot.
