The Van der Wiel Attack in the Advance Variation of the Caro Kann Defence is a quite aggressive system.
if you like sharp tactical play based on calculating rather than on strategic plans then this is the opening for you.
Almost every game in the Van der Wiel Attack is a body-to-body fight between the two armies. There is no manoeuvring in the traditional sense as there are no concrete positional targets in most of the sharp lines arising in this variation. Therefore I consider it a perfect opening choice for those players who like positions rich in tactical possibilities and aim to put pressure to their opponents right from the opening. White grabs space on the kingside early on aiming to use this space for a crushing attack and if Black is not prepared or caught by surprise, things can turn out very hard for him.
