For most of her life, Carmen Franco toed the line and fulfilled different roles: first, as Franco's daughter and later, as the wife of Crist bal Mart nez-Bordi . The political transition stripped her of her privileged existence and, just a few years later, she survived the fire at the Corona de Arag n Hotel at her son Jos Crist bal's military swearing-in ceremony. She saw her children marry and divorce, except for Mariola, who married the son of Republican General Tom s Ardid Rey.
