ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

At the end of her life, Franco's daughter broke her silence in an interview with Nieves Herrero. This novel is based on the exclusive interview she granted the journalist. -Revised edition with a new author's prologue-

"An unprecedented testimony for anyone who loves history and would like to learn more about our country's recent past." -Nieves Herrero

These are the memories of someone who witnessed almost a century of history from the shadows.

For most of her life, Carmen Franco toed the line and fulfilled different roles: first, as Franco's daughter and later, as the wife of Crist bal Mart nez-Bordi . The political transition stripped her of her privileged existence and, just a few years later, she survived the fire at the Corona de Arag n Hotel at her son Jos Crist bal's military swearing-in ceremony. She saw her children marry and divorce, except for Mariola, who married the son of Republican General Tom s Ardid Rey. She endured the loss of her grandson Fran in a car accident and the tragic death of her son-in-law Alfonso de Borb n, along with many other blows of fate.

After Franco's death, Carmen was appointed custodian of his will. This novel is about her life, based on her own account and through her eyes.

In this splendid novel, Nieves Herrero presents the life of Carmen, the daughter of Francisco Franco. This is the story of a woman in a unique place to witness Spanish history and who decided to tell it all before she died.
