Carly loved being Jewish
The story follows a young girl named Carly who loves celebrating Shabbat with her family. Every week, she enjoys the traditions-lighting candles with her mother, listening to prayers, and sharing a special meal with her parents and Aunt Rachel.
As Carly listens, she becomes curious about the prayers her family says. She learns that prayers are meaningful words that help people feel connected-to loved ones, to memories, and to their faith. Each family member explains how these prayers make them feel close to others, including past generations and Jewish people around the world.
Wanting to be part of this tradition, Carly searches for her own prayer. One morning, she finds her father's prayer book, which seems to open to a page just for her. She practices during the week and, when Shabbat comes again, she proudly recites the Shema, an important Jewish prayer.
Her family is amazed and proud. They begin teaching her more prayers, welcoming her into the tradition. Carly feels happy and connected, knowing she has discovered something meaningful on her own.
