Book Overview

Rose Seeks Peace at All Costs

Collect a new series of historical romances. When life seems weighed down by challenges, there are always pillars of enduring hope and love to be discovered.

Rose Rushing Water, an Oglala Sioux trained back East in nursing, is torn between two brothers--one who seeks to appease the government and one who fights to cling to the old ways at all costs. Tribal policeman Nathaniel Gray Cloud struggles to keep peace on the reservation and support his sister, who is also desperate to hold on to family traditions. Can Rose and Nathaniel find a peace that comes only from God, or will they lose their families and their lives as tensions reach a boiling point at Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota?

Hope In The Midst Of The Storm

A poignant portrayal of how the indigenous people were treated and their thoughts and feelings in 1890 at the Pine Ridge Reservation located in South Dakota. I give this author a standing ovation for her in depth research and how she drew us into the story based on facts instead of assumptions. The fictional characters are woven in flawlessly with the actual events to tell a fully detailed narrative. Like all people they only wanted to preserve their history and traditions and were punished for it. Disease, starvation, and immigrants fear of something they didn’t not understand led to devastation and heartbreak that is hard to be read about but a necessity so that we never forget the injustice these people suffered. I loved Rose Rushing Water and her desire to preserve traditions while bringing healing to her hurting people. The sweet romance helps to lighten the story as for me it was hard to take it all in as it was heartbreaking. From the beautiful cover to the conclusion you will find yourself immersed. I appreciated the author’s notes at the end. I highly suggest making this a must read. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit/Barbour Publishing. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
