Why pursue a career different from and/or unconnected with the academic discipline undertaken in the Higher Institution after investing a significant amount of resources (in terms of time and money)? Changing careers at will and veering into areas outside one's initial occupation of study, portend imminent danger for the nation's business economy in that some business sectors, for instance, the Media Industry, are likely to experience a dearth in academically qualified individuals that are proficient in specialized areas of every given business profession/endeavor. The study, Career Migration Among Mass Communication Graduates, sought to: ascertain if undergraduates desire to continue with the discipline of Mass Communication after graduation; find out what career(s) Mass Communication undergraduates are likely to pursue after graduation; determine the major motivation for career change after graduation; find out the overall perception of career migration among Mass Communication undergraduates; and to find out the overall perception of career migration among Media Professionals.
