The best

Since I was about 13 I've been learning card magic. I've gone on and off and have watched countless videos and read many books since. I wish THIS had been the book I started with and based all my moves on. I was already familiar with most of the things taught here, but found this book extremely helpful anyway. It's very detailed and the author's love for magic really shows. The way the book is structured also makes it a great reference guide, kind of like an encyclopedia of sleights. If you want to start learning sleight of hand or are interested in perfecting your technique I highly recommend this. It would have made the perfect gift for me when I first started. I think I should add that Card College is not full of tricks that you can perform (though it does contain a couple at the end of each chapter), instead it teaches you the moves which you can use to create your own effects. Personally, I am combining the moves taught here with effects I learned elsewhere.

Best magic book since Now you see it, now you don't

This first volumn, is so good, I plan to buy the remaining 4 my next pay check. I have not seen a book in the magic world this good since the Now you see it, now you don't books. It is very clear in writing style. The illustrations are great. There are sidebars and tips to help you. This book and a deck of cards on an deserted island and I woudl be all set. Now if someone would do this type of book for coin magic I woudl be all set.

thats what the gentleman at the magic store told me when i bought this book. i looked at him like, "yeah, sure it will." Well, IT DID. this series of books, especially volumes 1 and 2, are the best magic books out there. Starting from square one, Mr. Giobbi gradually walks you through the fundementals of magic. Every so often giving the reader effects to learn using these new techniques. Simply stated, if you want to learn magic...buy this book! You wont be disappointed! But remember, magic isn't easy. Be sure to practice, practice, practice!
