Namakkal Quail-1 was a newer strain developed by TamilNadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai from pure line of Japanese quail by four way crossing during the year 2006. Since that time no scientific data on meat quality of Namakkal quail- 1 was available. Hence a study was conducted to assess the carcass and meat quality characteristics of Namakkal quail- 1. A total number of 48 birds were used for study and they were procured from Poultry Farm Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal, Tamilnadu state, India. The carcass characteristics, physico-chemical character and meat quality characteristics were recorded and analysed.
