Not much is written of scandalous women in the Victorian age, but in some European countries, special
punishments were reserved for women, especially black sheep, young women of upper-class breeding
who ran afoul of the law and were an embarrassment to their families.
Cora, Genevieve, Charlotte, Winifred, and Lily have been convicted as "incorrigible rogues' for various
repeat offenses ranging from pickpocketing to solicitation to "incorrigible rogue"-all of them are
sentenced to "TRANSPORTATION" as a punishment.
They have no idea where they are going, and they will be transported there by pirates, including the
infamous Captain Wesley Horne, who has secretly contracted with the English Government to carry
female offenders far away to serve their sentences.
Strangeways Island does not appear on any map, but it is rich both in active diamond mines and
creatures though to be extinct...
