Captured is the sequel to Escape, a high-sea fantasy adventure about a young boy Micah and his struggles with an alcoholic mom and a controlling grandfather. In Captured, Micah's mother remarries, and as a result, the youth returns to his grandparents' home where he rediscovers a magical portal he thought had closed forever. Once again, Micah travels through time and finds himself on the Black Raven, a pirate ship in the Caribbean Sea. And once again, he is mistaken for Captain One Eye Nate's son. But unlike his earlier escapades, this time when he falls through the portal and returns to his grandfather's house, by accident the captain returns with him, closing the gateway in the process. How will Micah get the captain back to the 1700's and his ship? And how will Micah hide Captain Nate from his new stepbrothers? Though Micah eventually figures out a way to return the captain, the unexpected takes place. His stepbrother follows Captain Nate through the portal. Now Micah must return to the pirate ship and track him down. But while trying, Micah and his other stepbrother are captured by a wild pirate, Madman Moey, who has also imprisoned his younger stepbrother. How will the three possibly escape? And how will they return to thier Florida home before their parents realize they are missing? Captured is full of suspense and adventure and some surprising twists. In addition to the fantasy, the story touches on sibling rivalry, adjusting to stepparents and stepbrothers, and ADHD issues, which help enhance the realistic aspects of the story. And when the boys finally return home, they discover a valuable treasure in their possession--one that promises even more adventures in the future.
