Captivi
"Captivi" (The Captives) is a Roman comedy by Plautus. It stands out from his other works due to the absence of love interest, and its emphasis on themes of friendship, family, and loyalty. The play revolves around Hegio, a wealthy Sicilian, searching for his two lost sons. One son, Tyndarus, was kidnapped in childhood, while the other, Philocrates, was captured in a recent battle. Hegio purchases a number of war captives hoping to find Philocrates among them. A series of mistaken identities and clever deceptions ensue as the characters navigate their predicaments.
