Captain Rikord's Voyages to Japan during 1811-1813

This amazing history took place during 1811-1813 at one of the islands located at Northern Pacific along with Kurile islands. Those countries capable to cross the ocean with large ship pursued opening ports where food and water can be supplied and possibly trade at these new frontiers. Captain Golownin of the Sloop Diana landed on the coast of Kunasiri island with his six subordinates on July 11, 1811 and suddenly captured by Japanese. His deputy commander, Captain Rikord observed this incident on the deck of Diana and it took 2 years and 3 months of long difficult negotiations to release Captain Golownin and his crews. Captain Rikord made the most difficult trip including from Okhotsk to Jakutzk, and as far as Irkutzk, over 5000 miles struggling with severe and hazardous trip over Siberian land in addition to the life threatening navigation over the Sea of Okhotsk and the Pacific Ocean. Finally his outstanding courage and leadership led to the solution acceptable for both Russia and Japan.
