Captain Elias McMellen was a true civil war hero. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Captain McMellen joined the Union Army as a private in Co. K. 79th P.V.I. in 1861. At Perryville, he contracted camp fever thru exposure and was sent home. He chose to return to fight the cause as soon as possible. During his time of service, he was wounded four times. Captain McMellen had a very interesting life during and after the war and this book tells his story. This is the second book in a series about the "forgotten heroes" of the civil war.
