A sequel to the original Captain Blood, published by Rafael Sabatini in 1922, this book imagines Blood returning to England after a lull in the war with France. He was pardoned by Lord Willoughby for his piracy in the original book, but now Colonel Bishop has petitioned the government in London to withdraw Blood's pardon. After buying a farm in Somerset and resuming his life as a country doctor, Blood finds himself once again having to fight for his freedom - this time against the French as a captain in the Royal Navy at the Battle of Barfleur. All the while he is trying to keep his romance with Arabella Bishop alive.
