Best western of the year

Max McCoy has a winner with Canyon Diablo, a sprawling, shouting, fighting, killing, bleeding saga of the old west that just keeps giving. Jacob Gamble has a fiddle, a five-gun and at times a woman or two as he makes his way through the old west, taking his lumps and giving a few. McCoy's use of the 'envelope technique' is masterful, as he pulls the reader back and forth between the 1880's narrative of Jacob Gamble, and 1935 narrative of people trying to make a western movie of Gamble's life and exploits. Don't miss this one. Buy it, read it, and get a friend to buy his or her own copy!
