Candy (1968) sometimes as Candy (1969)
The late 60s were an excellent time for the type of music and movies that are lacking today.
Candy Christian (Ewa Aulin), a young woman trying to make sense of life, is confronted with observed situations that lead from one to another in the style of Dave Berry. No, this was not written by Dave Berry, but by Buck Henry, who must have been Dave’s understudy.
Ewa Aulin may be a tad cardboard and just reading her lines, but the other characters are famous actors just being themselves. I suspect a tad of spontaneous combustion. I shall not go into detail about each personality, but they are not as much a spoof and an exaggeration of each personality.
Marlon Brando (1924-2004)
Richard Burton (1925-1984)
James Coburn (1928-2002)
Walter Matthau (1920-2000)
Ringo Starr
John Astin
And many others
Glaringly missing is Burt Lancaster with his signature smile.
Will Candy survive her hero's journey?
If so, what has she learned?
Be sure to purchase the DVD, as the streaming is missing the steaming 24 minutes.
Will we ever be able to eat tropical chocolate again?
What is that supposed to mean?
