When Butcher, Leo Jensen, nearly amputates his index finger at the butchery, he is taken to the hospital where he must not only come to grips with the loss of his profession, but ultimately what will be the turning point in his life. Linda, too, is afflicted with cancer, and as the town rallies around her, she finds a new and difficult perspective on life.
