Can a Woman Serve as Pastor?: What Does the Bible Really Say?

Let's be honest. We have all paused when we read in the Bible, "women should be silent in the churches" and yet we see women teaching or even leading as "pastors." It seems like a complete contradiction between commandment and practice. We wonder what Paul intended when he said that a woman should be veiled when she prays or prophesies. These passages seem completely strange, almost foreign since everything we have been taught about equality appears to contradict these Bible passages. How could God grant equal salvation to men and women and yet tell women they should be quiet and "have no authority over a man?" Is this really the impartial God of love we hear so much about?
