Campana in Aria: French Horn and Piano

(Boosey & Hawkes Chamber Music). Scored for horn and chamber orchestra, Campana in Aria was composed in 1998 to mark the 40th birthday of Esa-Pekka Salonen. Salonen conducted the first performance; his musical career began as a horn player, and Lindberg's piece is derived from an early work by Salonen for that instrument. The solo part is complemented by two horns from the orchestra, positioned antiphonally.
