Summer camp is supposed to be about finding nirvana in a rock garden... But Elodie prefers Nirvana and Soundgarden. Can she confront rambunctious kids, confusing feelings, and supernatural horrors all... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Just kidding, he really does his own thing. But that is something Elodie has to find out the hard way. Dumped at camp by her mom, Elodie has to deal with a lot, a bunch of redheads, non-helpful counselors, budding feelings for someone she thought she didn't like, and the odd (but cool) camp chief with a secret.
The idyllic scenes of the mountains give a false since of security, from the metal music camp spirit song to the eerie blue light that only shines at night, this definitely has horror vibes to it, but it's well balanced with the comedy of the kids and antics of Elodie herself.
This reminds me of Lumberjeans, but with less focus on friendship and more on mystery solving. Elodie plays Nancy Drew to figure out what the odd happenings around camp is all about, while dealing with rowdy redheaded warriors, (really awesome kids in my opinion,) and figuring out why the seemingly perfect (and pretty) Catherine is so willing to help.
I really like the references to 90s metal and rock bands like Nirvana and Megadeth, as a big music fan that's a beautiful touch. This is a really fun graphic novel that I'd love to see a volume two of.
Also, if someone can point me to a link or the band name of the song "Doom Sunday," I'd really appreciate it!!
