Calvinism: Beyond the Scripture

By Pastor Carl D. Hall

For generations, few topics have stirred more debate among Protestants and Baptists than Calvinism. Its influence remains strong today, yet this book offers a fresh and thoughtful challenge. At the center of the discussion lies a crucial question: Does God bring people to faith, or does faith bring people to God?Scripture does not allow both to be true. While the conversation is usually framed as Calvinism versus Arminianism, Calvinism: Beyond the Scripture speaks from a third perspective: the non-Calvinist view.

Non-Calvinists maintain that both Calvinism and Arminianism spring from the same flawed foundation-a reaction to centuries of works-based religion. Though Arminianism may seem closer to the biblical text, its shared assumptions with Calvinism keep both from rightly dividing the Word of truth.

Rooted in Scripture, Calvinism: Beyond the Scripture contends that Calvinism extends beyond biblical authority, relying on human reasoning where Scripture remains silent, then imposing its conclusions on the passages it claims to exegete. This book aims to distinguish truth from error, that God's truth might bring clarity, unity, and renewed exaltation of the Savior within His church.

Though this book directly addresses the claims of Calvinism, its message reaches far beyond that narrow debate. It offers insight into God, His salvation, and the abundant grace He extends to all mankind. Whether or not the questions of Reformed Theology interest you, Calvinism: Beyond the Scripture will deepen your understanding of God's plan and leave you with a grateful heart.
