Called by Name

By James Paulson

What if the name others gave you was not the name Jesus was calling you by?

Seven boys and two young leaders enter the wilderness expecting five days of canoeing, camping and searching for a waterfall. Instead, a mistake with their map carries them away from safety, while a violent storm leaves them without enough canoes to return.

As fear and exhaustion expose divisions within the group, Pastor Silas shares how Jesus changed the direction of Saul's life and how his own journey of faith gave him freedom from a name once used to shame him.

Then one boy leaves the group, determined to find the way alone. When his canoe overturns and he becomes trapped beneath the water, his desperate prayer is answered by someone who already knows his name.

Called by Name is a Christian wilderness adventure for teen and young adult readers about identity, faith, family, leadership and becoming new through Jesus. Set eight years before the other stories in The Progression of Leadership Maturity Collection, this stand-alone prequel introduces younger versions of Malik, Eli, Darius, Bennett and other connected characters before their future paths unfold.
