Roadmap of Hope

Call to Liberty by Anthony Signorelli lays out a way dialog that can help bring differing sides of an issue into constructive dialog. Not that they'll agree, but that they can be constructive in their disagreement. The premise is based on that we as Americans have principles that we can agree on (i.e. rule of law, no man is above the law, etc.). What may be the tough sell with some is the concept of liberalism that Signorelli uses in his premise. Signorelli asks us to throw out the the current popular use of the word liberal and go back to it's original meaning. Signorelli's book is well thought out, well researched, and well written. A must for anyone fed up or disillusioned with the state of discourse today.

Time for a new discourse on political thought

Author Tony Signorelli is on a mission to rescue the language of liberty in America. The word "Liberal" was originally coined to describe the America Experiment. Years of demigogery have corrupted the meanings of the words Liberal and Conservative to the point of meaninglessness. Now a divided America uses those terms as taunts and insults rather than tools of discourse. This compact book traces the origin of Liberalism and recovers its true meaning. He gives a new framework for discussion by showing that the opposite of "liberal" is not "conservative" but "feudal". All people who believe in the principles embodied in the Constitution are Liberals. But liberal thought is composed of three "modes". These are Progressive, Monderate, and Conservative. These modes are not in conflict but are complementary to each other and we all have elements of each in our own political perspectives. Mr. Signorelli's perspective is empowering becuase we can finally get us beyond the acrimony of political conflict. All sincere Americans share a core set of principles that are a basis for true political discourse and consensus building. This book is an easy read, but thought-provoking nonetheless.
