Best Real Estate Exam Book on the Market!

Read this book if you want to pass the state exam!! I took these practice exams and when I could score at least 90% on them, I registered for the state exam and aced it. The exams in this book are what you can expect on the state exam. I tried using a couple of other practice exam books and they were not nearly as helpful, plus they were not as up to date. I highly recommend this book!! It's awesome!!

Hot Notes and Sample Questions

Prepare for your California Real Estate Exam by practicing with the sample questions in this book. The Hot Notes are helpful too.

Not perfect but pretty darn good!

I agree with a little of what each person has written below. The Hot Notes are super helpful. Memorize them. The practice tests are VERY helpful. Do them! And there will probably be some of those questions on your real exam, because there were on mine. That being said, some of the practice questions are worded vaguely or seem to contain conflicting info with the Real Estate Principles book (the basis for the CA exam). However, I tried using another book (How to Pass the CA Real Estate Exam and Dramatically Improve Your Score by Huber) and was almost in tears of relief when I realized I had also bought this book by Lush. The other book's exams were so convoluted and NOT related to the material, that it made me appreciate Lush's book all the more. The only thing I will say is that the math section in this book is weak. The other book I just referred to had a really strong math section, which gave me confidence when taking the test. But, had I not used this (Minnie Lush's) book, I wouldn't have passed my exam on the first try.... which I did!! Finally, about the exam, it's NOT easy. But it's NOT unreasonably difficult either. I knew the Principles book backwards and forwards, but there were still 11 questions on the test on material that I'd never heard of. But, since you can miss 45 questions and still pass, that's not a big deal. I worked steadily and did the math questions as they came up. On my scratch paper, I made a list of the Qs I wasn't sure about and/or didn't answer, then went back and looked at those when I had finished with all the questions. That way, I was able to gauge how many questions I had thought I'd answered correctly. All told, I was out of there in 2 hours' time. I give credit to knowing the Principles book really well (I read it twice and outlined it on my own) and having used this study book. I did self-study, no schools or seminars, so it CAN be done!

Used it, Passed the exam. What more can I say?

Book is only good as the reader. If you find this book to be a waste of time and money, then so be it. Find another book. Good luck with your exam. As for me, I used it along with 2 different exam guide books and found this one from Minnie Lush to be the most helpful. In fact, there were about 25 problems in the actual exam that were exactly the same as the ones I solved in this book. When you purchase this book, go through all 10 prep exams and memorize all the problems you answered WRONG. Those that you answered wrong will most likely to be in the actual exam. Actual exam is NOT a piece of cake. You actually have to work at it to pass it. Furthermore, HOT NOTES in the book are very helpful. Memorize them all. Advice to all the examinees..... When taking the exam, don't worry about all the problems you are not sure about. Exam is set up so that you will lose confidence and even doubt yourself from the START. That's right... FROM THE START!!! Just remember this.. "Make sure to find 100 questions you can answer without any shred of doubt what so ever. As for the balance 45 problems, even if you choose "C" or "D" on all of them, you should at least get 10-15 of them right, which means you pass. I hope this helps.

A good solid secondary source to complement your prep

For those of you currently preparing for the California real estate salesperson or brokers' exam(s), you're probably enrolled in a live or video course that already has its own books and materials that were included with it.This book is a nice secondary addition to the primary materials that you alreadly likely have in place. That being said, I found this book to be extremely helpful to examine the various real estate principles one will face on the actual California real estate exam.Often, I think many California realty students get too bogged down with materials generated by only one education company, professor, live lecture of video series, etc... and they forget that the California realtors examination covers a multitude of topics from many different angles.I highly recommend that you buy and use this book as a direct and positive supplement to the core materials and/or educational sources that you've already been using while prepping for your California real estate exam. Of particular value, if nothing else, in this book, is the Hot Tips/Hot Topics section of the book in which the authors have pleasantly reduced hundreds of nitbits regarding California law into exhaustive and easy to understand one-sentence blurbs. I found that cramming and/or memorizing these hot-tips on the last few nights before my actual exams were critical to my securing a passing grade.Like other guidebooks, it comes with reams of practice questions, many that you've likely seen before--but as we all know, the secret to passing the California exam is practice, practice, practice. Buy this book. You wont regret it.
