An elven mage mutters an incantation, calling the soft white clouds around her to turn dark with fury and bring nature's wrath down upon her enemies. Cackling with glee, a gnomish inventor takes to the skies, his latest contraption whirring and sputtering out trails of bright purple smoke. Human soldiers rush to their battle stations as their airship groans under the constrictive force of an angry Stratuswyrm, its carapace glittering in the morning sun. -------------------------------- Caelum is a world of cloud and sky, where eons-old conflict has rendered the surface of the planet uninhabitable. Life persists miles above, in scattered civilizations built on the backs of gargantuan, derelict war machines--remnants of the conflict that once decimated the planet. Millenia later, Caelum is once again divided, with numerous powers vying for control over the different sky islands, as well as the cloud seas that surround them. Armies amass, navies are erected, and war is waged, miles above what was once the surface of the planet. Many factions of various influence, renown, and might vie for control over the fractured world, some with military prowess, some with cunning mercantilism, and some with dark and forbidden magics. Other factions keep to themselves, profiting off of other conflicts, working as mercenaries for larger factions, preserving the natural order, or simply trying to survive. From where do you hail, traveler? What brings you across the shattered skies of this realm?
