Suspense thriller That will keep you turning pages

Having read many Tom Cancy books, where it takes 200 pages to set the story line, "By The Sword" was a treat to just sit and read. This Christian novel was full of suspense, intrigue, and over all, well written. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and can't wait until the next Amber Robbins thriller is out.

Amazing Timing For This Novel To Be Released

Not only does this novel have a very interesting story line but it weaves needful background history of a conflict that has raged for thousands of years and will (as in the news of late) rage again in the future. The author effectively uses this story to get folks to think about what could and to some degree is happening in the Middle East. I'm sharing my copy with folks to help get this message across and help them understand the bigger picture.

Couldn't Put it Down!

I couldn't put this book down - I found myself picking it up and reading as often as I could! By The Sword is an intriguing, compelling look at the cultural and religious battle of our time. The larger story - of motives and of personalities - is written about with authority. The characters are believeable. The details of life in the Mideast are thorough. The tensions in various situations are palpable. The everyday life of Christian believers in Islamic society are portrayed accurately. The authors' have done a superb job of incorporating history, geography, world religion, pyschology and theology in this book. One of the best fiction books I have read in a long time - I heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to better understand how events in the Middle East can and do affect the world.

Gripping combination of intrigue and thought provoking page turner!

"By the Sword" challenges the reader to confront his or her own spritual convictions, while providing an engaging, current event thriller! Those who like their reading material to be multi-dimensional, and who are up to the task of grappling with meaningful issues, but who also like to be carried along by a compelling plot and characters will find a true gem in Mike Yorkey and Rick Myatt's masterpiece! The historical background and context of the perceived threat to Islam by Christianity provided to the reader through Amber Robbins' journalistic inquiries is great information for the average westerner. A wonderful treat all the way around.

Great Book!

I interviewed the author for an article in a writer's magazine prior to reading the book. The sections about Switzerland, the Swiss-French mother, and journalism come from Mike Yorkey's personal experiences. His wife is French-Swiss, and he lived in Switzerland for a little over a year when they were first married. The abduction and murder sections perpetrated by Shiite Muslims came from the real experiences of a former Iranian diplomat who went into hiding and escaped Iran in the late 70's after the death of the Shah of Iran. He was an ambassador to Germany, and at that time anyone linked to the old government was killed if they were found. The diplomat spoke German, so Yorkey's wife translated their conversation. You can't ask for more realism than that! Gripping, tightly written, believable characters, about Christians and not preachy (preachiness is a personal pet peeve), this book will excite readers who enjoyed the movies created from Tom Clancy's books (Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, etc...), but had a hard time waiting through his lengthy books.
